Institute overview

As one of scientific institutes composed of academic backbone of SFL, HENU, the research institute of Japanese Language and Literature has 10 full-time researchers and two external part-time researchers, including two professors, four associate professors, six lecturers, and all of them have overseas study experiences and three of them have doctoral degrees. Lan Liliang, an associate professor was appointed as the director of the research institute of Japanese Language and Literature.

 

Research directions:

The research direction includes: Japanese Linguistics, Japanese Literature, Japanese culture.

1.Zheng Xianxin, associate prof., and Prof. Wang Tieqiao (external part-time researcher) mainly studied Japanese Linguistics.

Associate Prof. Zhenghas participated in the National Ninety-Five Social Science Fund Project of textual contrast between Japanese and Chinese. He has completed and published the monograph of Studies on Textual Contrast between Japanese and Chinese. He has also published some relevant papers in Journal of Henan University ( social science) and some other Journal and professional essays to fill in a gap in the filed of Japanese textual studies. Prof. Wang (external part-time researcher) has published more than 20 papers in Journal of PLA University of Foreign Languages, Foreign Languages Research and Japan Academic Journal, 3 monographs, achieving fruitful results in Japanese culture and Linguistic and other fields.

2.Lan Liliang, associate professor mainly studied in Japanese Literature.

The main research direction is Modern Japanese Literature.

In recent years,Dr.Lan has been approved on the study of OEKenzaburo’s fiction from the narrative perspective by Ministry of Education of Humanity and Social Science Research Project and poetics research of OEKenzaburo’s fiction by China Postdoctoral Foundation and some other department projects. Meanwhile, he has published nearly 10 papers in journals such as Journal of PLA University of Foreign Languages, Foreign Languages Research, Japan Studies, Foreign Literature, which take the leading level in the same research in nation wide. Some achievements have been photocopied by Foreign Literature Studies edited by the Renmin University of China and are well received by the domestic peer experts.

3.Associate Prof. Sun Wen, Zhang Bo, and Prof. Zhao Gang (external part-time researcher) mainly studied Japanese culture.

Dr. Sun Wen is mainly engaged in studies on Japanese-Chinese cultural contrast, focusing on the trans-regional and intercultural communication of nationalities, languages and literature. He has co-written a project of National Social Science Seventh Five Key Planning on Northern Ethnic Culture in Ancient China, and presided over a project of National Social Sciences Fund of Youth on a Comprehensive Study of the Ainu Language and Culture, and a general project of Studies on Bibliography Carried by Ship, a project of studies on Bibliography Carried by Ship approved by Ministry of Education of Humanity and Social Science Research Project. And also has published a monograph of Asian Intelligence-Literature and History, and a book of Visiting the Scheming World-Journey to the West translated in collaboration with Wang Xiuwen (Original written by: Kanomi), edited a special subject on Academic Essays, and published some papers in journals such as Japanese Studies, The Documentat.

Dr. Zhang is mainly engaged in the study of modern Japanese literature and culture, and has published an academic monograph named Ukiyo-e, Bushido, Oku-the Mass Culture of the Edo Age in Japan, 2 academic works, 2 translation works, some papers in journals such as Journal of Foreign Studies, Japanese Study, possessing some certain influence in China.

Dr. Zhao has published more than 10 papers on Japanese history and culture in the authoritative periodicals such as Japanese Studies and Huang Xueguan Review. Nobukatsu and Japanese Confucianism. The monograph of Nobukatsu and Japanese Confucianism is the first study of Nobukatsu in China, which is of pioneering significance in this field. His research involves subjects such as philology, culturology, history, ethnology and so on, and forms an all-round and multi-angle research pattern.

 

Research features

The noticeable features of The Research Institute of Japanese Language & Literature are the completed directions and unique researches, including Japanese Linguistics, Japanese Literature, Japanese culture, which are ranked ahead in the same research in China. The researches of Prof. Wang Tieqiao’s culture Linguistics, associate Prof. Zheng Xianxin’s textual Linguistics, associate Prof. Lan Liliang’s OEKenzaburo’s fiction, associate Prof. Sun Wen’s Japanese philology, associate Prof. Zhang Bo’s modern Japanese literature and culture stay in the forefront of the Japanese research fields. In the recent years, more than 40 papers havebeen published in the academic periodicals both in and abroad, in which more than 10 published in the authoritative periodicals such as Japanese Studies, Journal of Japanese Language Study and Research, Japan Studies, Japanese Study, Journal of Foreign Studies, Nankai Japanese Study. A great number of papers have been published in professional core periodicals such as The Documentat, Journal of PLA University of Foreign Languages, Foreign Languages Research, Journal of Henan University ( social science) and a total of 5 monographs and translations, which have formed three directions with a comprehensive, distinctive model, achieving fruitful results in academic studies.
