Institute of Study of British and American Literature of Henan University

 

1.Overview and Characteristics

Institute of Study of British and American Literature is one of the subordinate research institutions of Henan University.Professor Xue Yufeng,a graduate of Beijing Foreign Studies University,is a Distinguished Professor in English Language and Literature of Henan University. His research achievements in overseas Chinese literature and culture take the leading position in his research field in China and are widely praised by his colleagues. Full-time researchers include Professor Jiao Xiaoting, Associate Professor Sun Xiaoqing, Associate Professor Zhang Yuhong, Associate Professor Liu Dangdang, Associate Professor Li Qiaohui, Associate Professor Zhang Jinghui, Associate Professor Yin Jing, Associate Professor Fu Jiangtao, Associate Professor Zeng Xia and so on.

The prominent features of this research institute are complete categories and unique researches, and its research directions include Anglo-American literature, culture and related studies,such as British literature, American literature, Western literary theory, literary aesthetics, American Chinese literature,Afro-American literature, visual arts, comparative literature and culture.Currently its research directions with outstanding advantages like British novels, historical literature, Chinese American literature etc., take precedence in China.

2.Researchers

Professor JIAO Xiaoting

JIAO Xiaoting (1965.9 -), female, was born in Fuping County, Shaanxi Province, Han nationality. In 1988, she graduated from English Department of Xi'an International Studies University and received a bachelor's degree in literature, and in 2001, graduated from School of Foreign Language of Henan University, received a master's degree in literature. In 2006, she graduated from School of Foreign Language of Henan University, and received a doctorate in literature, and in 2007, carried out one-year academic visit at the University of Essex. Now she is Professor and Master tutor of the School of Foreign Languages of Henan University. In recent years, she has published a monograph and three translation works,and also published over 30 papers in academic journals such asForeign Language Studies,Foreign Literature Studies,Foreign LanguagesandShandong Foreign Language Teaching.

Mainly engaged in the study of Anglo-American literature, specialized in the study of Afro-American literature.

 

Associate Professor SUN Xiaoqing

SUN Xiaoqing (1965.11-), female, is Associate Professor, Master tutor and Doctor of Literature, mainly engaged in British and American novels, Western literary theory. In 1988, she graduated from the School of Foreign Languages of Henan University, and received Bachelor's degree in literature, and in 1994, received Master's degree in English language and literature at the School of Foreign Languages of Henan University. In 2008, she received a doctorate in literature in Henan University. In recent years, she has presided over and participated in the completion of a number of provincial and ministerial level Henan University projects, and published many professional papers.

 

Associate Professor ZHANG Yuhong

Zhang Yuhong (1972-), born in Taikang County,Henan Province, is Associate Professor, Doctor of Literature and Master tutor. From 1989 to 1996, she studied English Language and Literature at the School of Foreign Languages of Henan University and obtained a bachelor's degree of literature in 1993 and a master's degree in literature in 1996, and stayed at Henan University to take up teaching.In 2008, she received Doctor of Literature at Shanghai International Studies University. The main academic interest is Anglo-American literature research. In recent years, she has published more than 10 academic papers, a monograph and a translation works, and edited two teaching references. In addition, she has presided over or participated in more than 10 research projects.

 

Associate Professor LIU Dangdang

LIU Dangdang (1973.10 -), female,is Doctor of Literature, Associate Professor and Master tutor. The main research interests: American literature and British and American novels. She has participated in a number of provincial and ministerial level projects, published more than ten papers and many translation works.

 

Associate Professor LI Qiaohui

LI Qiaohui (1974.2-), female, born in Luohe City, Henan Province, is Associate Professor of School of Foreign Languages of Henan University. The research direction: British contemporary literature. Respectively in 1995 and 1998, she received Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the School of Foreign Languages of Henan University, and then stayed at Henan University to take up teaching in 1998, and in 2007, got a doctorate at Shanghai International Studies University. In 2009, she passed the associate professor title review, and in 2010, was named the backbone of young teachers in Henan Province. She worked as a visiting scholar at Oxford University from November 2010 to November 2011.

 

Associate Professor ZHANG Jinghui

ZHANG Jinghui (1977.7 -), female, Han nationality, born in Gushi County, is a member of Jiusan Society, Literature Postdoctor, Associate Professor and Master tutor; a researcher of Institute of Study of British and American Literature of Henan University; a researcher of Institute of Study of Biblical Literature of Henan University; English editor ofBiblical Literature Research(journal); a researcher of Institute of Study of the Art of Film and Television of Henan University; Deputy Secretary-General of Henan Institute of Foreign Literature. The main research interests: literature and art aesthetics, visual arts, Anglo-American literature.

Associate Professor ZHANG Jinghui was awarded Young Backbone Teacher of Henan University in 2011,Young Backbone Teacher of Henan Provincial Department of Education in 2012, Winner of Provincial May 1st Labor Medal in 2013, and chaired five provincial and ministerial humanities and social science projects, published more than 30 papers, two monographs, won three provincial scientific awards, in which won the First Prize of excellent achievements of 2017 Henan Province Social Science,participated in editing four textbooks. From October 2015 to October 2016,she worked as a visiting Scholar at University of Cambridge.

 

Associate Professor YIN Jing

YIN Jing (1981.1 -), female, born in Xiajin County, Shandong Province, is Tsinghua Literature Postdoctoral, Associate Professor and Master tutor. The research interests: Anglo-American literature and Western literary theory. She has presided over a ministerial-level project, participated in two provincial and ministerial level projects, jointly translated two translation works and issued more than ten papers. One of the translation works and a monograph was fully copied by the NPC copy material. In 2008, She worked as a joint development doctor in Duke University and a visiting scholar at the University of New South Wales, Australia, from September 2010 to September 2011.

 

Associate Professor FU Jiangtao

FU Jiangtao (1978-), male, born in Changchun City, Jilin Province, isDoctor of Literature, Associate Professor, Master tutor, academic and technological foregoers of Henan Province Education Department and the director of research office of School of Foreign Languages of Henan University. The main research directions: comparative literature, Pound research, interpretation theory and practice. He has published more than 20 papers (core 5), presided over 4 department level projects, and participated in more than 10 provincial and ministerial projects.

 

Associate Professor ZENG Xia

ZENG Xia (1974.8 -), is Master of Arts, associate Professor and Master tutor. The research interests: Anglo-American literature and translation. A total of seven academic papers were published, of which two were published in CSSCI source journals, two were published in Peking University Chinese core journals. She has also issued an academic translationIn the Realm of A dying Emperor, edited a textbook and coedited a textbook.
