On January 13, 2018, more than 20 people, including leaders and Shanghai alumni from SFL of HENU, gathered together in Shanghai to welcome the new year 2018. Alumni participated covered students from year 1977 to 2007.
Wan Xinfang, the former Party Secretary of SFL, made an address at the beginning. He delivered New Year’s greetings to all alumni and shared with them some major events happened inHENUin 2017, such as HENU has entered the list of “double first-class” universities and the SFL of HENU ranked first in 2017’s employment rate. At the same time, he hoped all members would actively participate in the activities of the Alumni Association, give full play to the role of the Alumni Association as a platform for mutual help, experiences sharing and feelings exchanging. Finally, he wished the Alumni Associationcould bebetter and better with the concerted efforts.
Ma Guoqiang, Vice Dean of the SFL, expressed his appreciation for the work of the Shanghai Alumni Association and expected everyone to uphold SFL’s motto of “Inclusiveness and Excellence”, and jointly pursue the excellence of SFL. Meanwhile, on behalf of SFL, he thanked the people from all walks of life who made unremitting efforts for the healthy and smooth operation of the alumni association. He alsohopedthat the alumni associationcould be considered as thespiritual home to all students from SFL.
The event also invited Wang Zemin, the formerVice Presidentof SFL, and his wife (alumnaof HENU). Professor Wang, as a grade-77 alumnus of SFL, reminded us the enduring story between himself and HENUin an authentic Kaifeng dialect, and he also said that he would do its utmost to support and participate in the activities of the alumni association. Professor Wang Zhenhua, currently teaching at SFL, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, also used a familiar Kaifeng words toaddresswarm New Year’s greetings and deep-felt expectations.
In a cheerful and happy atmosphere, all the alumni participating in the party exchanged their well-prepared New Year gifts and sent greetings and wishes to each other. Finally, in the proposal of Ma Guoqiang, all of the alumnisang theschoolsong ofHENUin unison with full affectionate, making the party to its climax.
Alumni Association, as a platform connected all alumni together in Shanghai, is everyone’s second home in Shanghai. With the unremitting efforts of the Organizing Committee, more than 110 alumni have joined the Shanghai Alumni Association of SFL. The activitywas successfully held withthe elaborate planning of the Chairperson Zhao Yingbo, Secretary Zhang Yuanyuan, Vice Chairperson Wei Haichao, Vice Chairman Liu Zhongliang, Wang Shujing and Hao Mengmeng, etc.
It is reported that apart from Shanghai, several alumni associations has been set up by the School of Foreign Languages in Beijing, Guangzhou and Zhengzhou.
