On April 22, 2018, the Seventh National Interpretation Competition in Henan Province kicked off at Zhengzhou University of Light Industry. 108 players from 24 universities across the province competed and 33 players came to the finals after fierce competition. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Fu Jiangtao, students Han Xiumin, Li Yingjun, Wang Fenfen, Zang Zhiyuan, and Feng Yan represented our school in the provincial competition of Henan Province in the Seventh National Interpreting Contest.
According to the competition system, the knockout, an English to Chinese interpretation contest, was conducted on the morning of April 22. Then the winners entered the Chinese to English contest in the afternoon. After fierce competition in the morning, Wang Fenfen and Feng Yan successfully entered the qualifying stage in the afternoon. In the final stage, the two students won the second prize of the provincial competition in Henan province and entered the regional competition. Han Xiumin, Li Yingjun and Zang Zhiyuan from our school also won the third prize of the provincial competition. Professor Fu Jiangtao won the “Excellent Faculty Advisor Award”.
After the competition, the teacher of the coaching team of the interpreting competition will strengthen training for the contestants and expect to create another great success in the regional competition held one month later. (translated by Feng Yan)
