On June 15th, 2018, ChenXianglan,a professor of the university of international business and economics holds a lecture entitled "metaphor and metaphor: from theory to practice" in the third hall of the north building of the foreign language college. The host is the teacher, Niu Baoyi.
Professor Chen introduces her research on metaphor and metonymy from aspects of theory and demonstration . She uses a piece of video, that is, a girl dancing in different places. This small segment contains a lot of metaphors, such as the girls hair, red walls,which contains such as metaphors. They represents the Chinese culture and there is a kind of multimodal metaphor. Chen believes that the construction of advertising discourse needs to be from things to events. In order to achieve the best effect, the commercial purpose of advertising and the principle of empathy should be fully considered.
At the end of the lecture, professor Niu Baoyi concludes: that in terms of theory, the research object should be clearly defined;in the aspect of demonstration, it is necessary to clearly study the purpose, namely,language itself.
